Christmas life hacks

The big day is almost upon us. The chances are you will have a few days off over the holiday period. How best can you manage during this time? And who wouldn’t love some Christmas Life Hacks??

The Christmas Holiday Period can be one of the most stressful times of the year and it can play havoc with our mental health. Whether it’s the financial strain, having to get your hands on impossible presents or getting together with family. We can all feel the pinch around this time of year.

Christmas can be so different for people nowadays. It’s not all like the ads we see on TV or social media. Quite a lot of people are working over Christmas. Not everyone will get to spend Christmas with their families.

The nature of our current times sees that we are seamlessly moving from one Hallmark occasion to another. We are almost getting set for Christmas as soon as we return from our summer holidays.

If you get a few days off over Christmas it’s a great opportunity to hit that reset button and take some down time. Time to look back over the year and make some plans for the year to come.

The down time over Christmas leaves us with plenty of opportunity to give something new and different a go.

There are a few different tips and tricks that we can adapt to help get through unscathed. Let’s call them Christmas Life Hacks!

Exercise

It looks like this Christmas is going to be a little milder than it has been over the last few weeks. What better way to unwind and work off the excess intake of food than exercise. It doesn’t have to be anything hectic.

A nice ramble / walk with some friends or family would be a great way to get the fresh air and connect at the same time.

There will be a lot of talk about the New Year – New You. But let’s not go there. Get up, get out and go for a walk. As Nike are well known for saying #justdoit.

Running

This is something I am going to give another go.

I went for a walk in the village on Monday and I passed a group of people out for a run. It made me think of joining a running group. They were all chatting while they ran and it seemed quite sociable. So maybe you could contact your local athletics club and see if there are any groups in your area?

Netflix & Chill

What about a spot of Netflix and chill? Take some time to catch up on the must watch series that you missed out on. I find that I can learn so much from watching a documentary on Netflix. When I have no plans and extra time on my hands that’s my go to activity. You ight get more out of reading a book or listening to music. But if you have nothing to so then just kick back and relax.

Journal

Maybe you could start journaling? You can have a bit of a wander back over the happenings of the year. Then make a start of setting some goals for the year to come. I have some of my best “brain farts” during the down time of holidays. If I can get to write it down I can work through the idea and work out the best way to go about it.

Meditation & Mindfulness

This is something that is relatively new to me. But I have found it to be very beneficial. I recently wrote a blog post about the topic.

Have a read and see if this is something you could introduce into your life?
